- India will take on West Indies in the 1st T20 International on Friday
- India will look to find a good playing-XI with the return of Virat Kohli
- In this year 2019 West Indies have won only 1 of their 9 T20Is
India after clean-sweeping West Indies at their home grounds with 2-0 in the ODI series and 3-0 in the T20I series held this year in August, Indian team is yet again ready to tackle the West Indies in 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs to give end to their home season 2019 with a high roar.
India begins this series as they want to set their combinations with an eye on the T20 World Cup is going to be held in Australia next year.
In the last few matches, India has not much able to find themselves in their batting combinations. Shreyas Iyer has fitted well to do batting at number 4, and he will look to set himself on the same position in the next matches.
India still have questions on their opening combinations though. They often open with Shikhar Dhawan to partner Rohit Sharma after leaving out of KL Rahul. When Virat Kohli has rested, KL Rahul has got a chance, like recently in the Bangladesh series. Now, Kohli is back but Shikhar is out with an injury. So, Rahul has again a chance to open along with Rohit.
This year West Indies have played 9 T20 matches and they were able to get victory in only 1 that was against Afghanistan. Before that they were clean sweeped by England and India, also defeated by Afghanistan with 2-1. In T20 international their previous records vs India are really very depressing.
Captain Pollard has big responsibility to improve his team’s record for T20 World Cup in the coming year. This series vs India is a great chance to get back into action and improve their performance.
Now their squad come up with a good IPL experience, they have a high ability to win games in this format of T20, like Evin Lewis, Lendl Simmons and Shimron Hetmyer, along with Nicholas Pooran and Pollard himself can give good output through their batting performance.
With comparison to batting, West Indies’ spin unit is weak they have only Hayden Walsh and Khary Pierre for their spin options
